All-City's Super Professional Likes Long Lunches

Introducing the latest urban ripper from the fun-loving folks at All-City, the Super Professional Urban Cross Machine. It’s part cyclocross, part road, and a whole lot of capable when it comes to navigating the varied ways of getting through the city. It features a handy sliding rear dropout system—called the Master Dropout—allowing easy swaps from single speed to geared setups. Both the bike and featured dropout are firsts for All-City, but the new model owes much of its design to the brand's Nature Boy and Macho Man rippers that have been so popular in the cyclocross scene.

The Deliverables

  • It's a fun, ride-it-all commuter bike
  • Athletic geometry creates a nimble feel
  • Clearance for 650x47 or 700x40 tires
  • Choose from single speed or geared build options

Everyday Business Casual

All-City does a great job at keeping the classic bike aesthetic alive and well. Whether it's cyclocross, road, dirt, or commuting, you can count on modern features paired with dapper looks and the Super Professional certainly follows suit. Despite its pedigree, this bike probably won't be your weekend race rig, but that's not the intention—aside from impromptu challenges on the bike path, of course. The Super Professional takes a more utilitarian approach that’s focused on commuting: four-point rack mounts adorn the classically styled bi-wing fork so you can carry a load of gear in a basket and rack combo, and tire and fender clearances allow big rubber to keep you moving comfortably and confidently on pavement, gravel, or lightweight singletrack.

Composure In All Situations

A key difference between this bike and cyclocross and road race bikes is the riding position. Thanks to a wide, flat handlebar, the Super Professional handles more like a mountain bike, giving you a great heads-up view of what lies ahead. It’s a nice benefit for those who prioritize safety over speed like many commuters do. But that’s not to say the Super Pro can’t turn and burn when you step on the gas. Thanks to its lightweight 612 Select chromoly frame and fast-rolling tires, you’ll find the response you want in addition to the steel frame’s durable comfort.

The Dusty Blue Panther Rides At Golden Dawn

Now for the tough decision: Blue Panther or Goldust? The Super Professional is available as a frameset in both colors, or as completes in one color or the other. Somewhat unfortunate, however, is the fact that the completes don’t come in both wheel size variations. The Super Professional Apex 1 build features 700c wheels and 37mm WTB Riddler tires in striking Blue Panther, while the Super Professional Single Speed build features 650b wheels and 47mm WTB Horizon tires in 70's-era Goldust. Either way, there’s value in whichever decision you make, and we can envision some great looking custom builds coming from both color options.

King Of The Urban Jungle

Should the Super Pro be your next bike? In brief, yes! If you’re a regular kind of everyday rider who needs to carry some things to and from wherever it is you’re going, and you appreciate classic good looks paired with the low maintenance of a single speed, the Super Professional Single Speed should be high on your list. But it's not just for commuters—anyone who desires nimble road manners and a more relaxed riding position should take a long look at the Super Professional Apex 1, too. It's hard to go wrong thanks to the versatility the frame offers—run it geared during the summer and single speed during the winter in true multi-purpose Super Pro style.
