Saris H3 Direct Drive Smart Trainer
With a claimed output of just 59 decibels at 20mph, you’ll be wishing you applied an extra round of chain lube. No one wants to hear the distracting mechanical churn of cycling trainers—in some cases it can be louder than riding outdoors. But by lowering the unit's sound output, the trainer fades into the background so you can focus on riding your bike.
This is the third iteration of Saris’ (formerly CycleOps) Hammer series of direct-drive trainers. The latest H3 features a redesigned belt system, greater accuracy, and reduced tendency to overheat compared to previous versions. The unit is built from machined and cast aluminum and weighs 47lbs, which is plenty of mass to control all-out efforts. A wide footprint contributes to its solid feel.
In the box you’ll find an 11-25t 11-speed cassette, front wheel block, USB extension cable, ANT+ USB dongle, and a few months of paid Zwift and Rouvy access.
The front wheel block stores beneath the unit, and two articulating arms ensure plenty of stability during out-of-the-saddle sprints.
The H3 is a direct-drive unit which means you can attach just about any bike to the trainer using the rear axle mounts instead of the rear wheel.

Get Connected
The H3 is compatible with dual ANT+ FE-C and Bluetooth FTMS, letting you connect your smart device to see and record ride data. Most desirable, though, is the trainer’s ability to put you into real-life course simulations that allow you to ride with other virtual users through apps like Zwift or Rouvy. The H3 also measures speed, cadence, and power without a need for external sensors.
